Here’s an idea – lets hold our conference in a car park…

“Hello – is that the Marriott Hotel in Lisbon”

“Yes, how may I help you?”

“Great – my name is Christian, from Eventually events company. We are producing a big sales conference for Nokia, and we would like to talk with you about holding it at your hotel”

“Wonderful, thank you. Please hold while I connect you to our Business Centre”

(Cue Hotel Music – and even if you are enjoying it you never get to hear it right to…)

Hotel: “Good morning, Marriott Lisbon Hotel business centre, how may I help you?”

Christian “Hi” (repeats as above)

H “May I ask how many people will be attending this event?”

C “Yes, just over 10,000”

(Pause)

H “I am so sorry sir, we don’t have a room big enough to accommodate that many people”

C “We would like to hold it in your car park?”

H “Sorry?”

C “In your underground car park – we will convert it beforehand and restore it afterwards”

Simple, inspiring and of course, totally impossible

Like so many ideas that are put forward.

We always say in Naked Leader that if anyone, any team or organisation has done it, then so can you.

Also, you will never know whether you can achieve something, until you do it, and see.

The event itself ran over 2 days – the transformation of the venue took slightly longer, each side.

Please, watch the video, and I challenge you to never again use the word ‘impossible’.

I had the great pleasure of presenting at the event and meeting some of the most amazing people with extraordinary vision, passion and abilities.

With thanks and massive admiration to Nokia, especially Paul Adams, to the event magicians, eventually and to every single person, team and organisation who has redefined ‘impossible’ to ‘let’s do this’.

With my love and best wishes to you all.

  1. Wonderful again. Such diverse thinking is what leaders are renowned for and innovative thinking can often work in such a good way.
