The Age Of The Human Being
Naked Leader Week 951 – 29 November 2021
Time to read: 31 seconds
Last week I was on a three person Panel for an in-company Zoom event
The first question was – “Everyone is talking about the next business age – would each panellist please summarise what it will be”
The first panellist was a “Digital Expert” and she spoke about Eco-Systems, Hi-Tech and IT
The second was a serious academic and I didn’t understand a single word he said
I was the final panellist so I had time to prepare – as the others spoke I scribbled down everything I had seen, read and heard about this so-called ‘next business age’
When it came to my turn I looked at my page full of notes and blurted out:
“The Age of The Human Being”
And I added three further thoughts:
“Its ALL about people and what they choose to do – making your organisation not just a great place to work, but also a great place to be”
“To achieve this, leaders in organisations must realise that WellBeing is essential – it is the root cause of all successes and failures. Everything else is just noise.
And my final thought:
“And it’s not the next business age – it’s now”
What do you think – was I right or not?
With my love and best wishes to you all

As always, right response. My well-being is critical to me and therefore is important to ALL those around me – family, friends, work mates, as an employee, as a manager and, most importantly as a fellow human being.
This reminds me why I love the Naked Leader – 100% authentic ever since day 1. Fully promote the idea of the work setting being a great place to be. For me each moment is one that we will never get back so I am grateful for people choosing to spend it with me in our team so owe it to them to curate a welcoming, formative and difference making day each and every time.
You were VERY right. At our annual company conference three or maybe even four years ago now, Inma Martinez, a leading authority in the sectors of digital technology and machine intelligence, having pioneered the transformation of mobile internet, emerging digital technologies and music streaming, Inma was a very engaging keynote speaker, especially for me.
As an Internal Communications and Engagement Professional who had become slightly disillusioned by the crazy focus on technology to the detriment of people, I was excited to hear Inma say: IQ is no longer important. Tech is not a differentiator anymore. What is going to differentiate firms in the future is PEOPLE. It’s not going to be about who’s got the best tech because that will be available to all. It’s going to be about who’s got the best people!”
Assets make things possible, but PEOPLE make things happen. Always people. It surprises me how long it took for the corporate world to realise it. Luckily, we have David Taylor to remind them. Brilliant answer! The best really 😉
