You Die

I just couldn’t put those two words in the headline – I am stressed enough by all those ‘before you die’ books – including such scary titles as:

• 1,001 Whiskies You Must Try Before You Die
• Fifty Places to Sail Before You Die
• 100 Books You Must Read Before You Die – Volume 2

etc. etc. etc.

So there I was in WH Smith – browsing through the video games magazines, by far the oldest person so doing, when I saw it:

100 Games To Play Before You Die.

At first I smiled at the irony – in most of the games listed you die anyway.

And then I realised:

There is really only one game we must all play before we die.

The game of real life – a far bigger, more exciting and challenging game than anything we can play online, surely?

Please forgive me calling something as important as real life, a game.

However, in many ways it is:

• Each and every day – moment – we make choices on what we do now – and those choices are entirely our own – what we do, say and even think next is entirely up to us
• There are rules – called laws – to protect us, which still give us plenty of freedom
• It is well documented in science and psychology that reality is different for each of us as we all see things differently

So in this single most important ‘game’ we will ever play, by ourselves and with each other, what will your next move be?
