Leadership from a different perspective – Journeymaker 2
Thank you for your feedback to Sadie Gordon’s inspirational story last week – (link to previous week on underline) I will let you know how Sadie does in her half-marathon.
Linking on from Sadie’s themes of Vision, Purpose, Positivity and Focus…
Next Saturday, 23rd June, at 15:00 GMT (16:00 British Summer Time), the crew of Journeymaker 5 will be competing for the second time in the Three Peaks Yacht Race, an event that combines sailing four hundred miles along the western coast of Great Britain with running up, in darkness, the highest peaks in Wales, England and Scotland.
And they are doing this all for charity – to raise money for the Bendrigg Trust, a charity that offers the benefits of challenge and adventure to disabled and disadvantaged young people. They hope to raise enough money to finance a new indoor climbing wall for the trust.
Last week I was the guest speaker at the launch event for this second adventure. This was humility indeed – speaking in the oldest yacht club in the UK (Thames Yacht Club), to raise money for children who show extraordinary perseverance each and every day, on behalf of a team of people, some of whom a few years ago had never sailed, and others who had never run!
Please follow their progress at www.journeymaked.co.uk, read more about the Bendrigg Trust at www.bendrigg.org.uk and please be inspired by this story to do something:
Share it with a friend who needs some inspiration and belief
Or
Make a true decision and take that first action
With best wishes to Louise, Chris and the team and with love to you all
