The next big thing is people…

The very people who are sitting around waiting for the next big thing.

And the very same people who attend seminars and presentations and workshops to hear from experts discussing and debating and disagreeing over the next big thing that you as a leader and as an organisation should be focusing your time, money and resources on.

In the last two weeks alone, I have heard that each of the following is the next big thing – ‘robotics’, ‘block chain’ ‘big data’ ‘little data’ ‘millennials’ centennials’ etc. etc. etc.

It’s none of those things.

Its people.

Your people.

You.

I have been saying for years that your people are not the number one asset in an organisation.

That is simply ridiculous.

Your people are the only asset in your organisation.

Because without them, nothing else begins.

And as a leader you have one role above all others – ensuring that your people love to do what you really them to do.

Achieve that, achieve anything.

Don’t, and it really doesn’t matter what you think the next big thing is, as it will never happen.
