Uniting Beyond Nations – please send on to those whose lives you touch

 The power and openness of children and wonderful innocence hit me again this week. I was at a school and sharing how we were having to stop using the N word in these newsletters because of a clampdown on e-mail filters, and a girl asked me why we adult shave made a perfectly innocent word, so rude!

 As I often say, young people get this stuff, and it is so exciting to be around them…and what inspired this week’s thoughts:

 A chap called Jean Piaget was a leading thinker in childhood development, and he gave each of these ages a name:

Birth to 2 yrs – Sensori-motor

2 to 7yrs – Pre-operational

7 to 11 years – Concrete Operational

11 years and up – Formal Operational

How exciting is that?

 A chap called David Taylor did survey of 50 parents, to give each of these ages a name:

Birth to 2 yrs – “A new-born life – a miracle”

2 to 7yrs – “A wonder, an explorer, pure love”

7 to 11 years – “Exciting, little devil, a mind of their own”

11 years and up – “Challenging, Independent, Amazing”

 Still, as all parents asked are in the “formal operational” time of our lives, what do we know?
