When you hear the “F” Word, do this

Time to Read – A little over 2 minutes

When you hear the “F” Word, do this

Well, three “F” words, actually

One – The most frequent question people are ever asked is…

“How are you?”

And the most frequent answer of them all is…

“Fine”

The same word people use when they are sitting in a meeeting, arms crossed, lips curled, staring down at the carpet with a look of thunder

“Are you ok?”

“I’m FINE”

F.I.N.E = Feelings Inside Not Expressed

So – when you hear it from now, you know they are anything but

Two – The single thing that stops us from achieving our dreams is…

Fear

Not failure – we all fail many times – it’s the fear of failure, the fear of success, the fear of what others will think and say…

F.E.A.R = False Evidence Appearing Real

So – when you feel fear, say to yourself, in absolute silence “thank you” and the “fear” will go away

Three – 95% of the statements that people make are beliefs and opinions, and yet they say each one as if it is a…

Fact

e.g. “That’s a great film”

Or “Everyone in the meeting agreed”

Or even “The world is flat” (and if you expressed otherwise, you were in deep trouble).

F.A.C.T = Familiar Attitudes Considered True

So – Next time you are listening to someone, play a mental score game – score plus one for real facts (can’t think of one right now) and minus one for opinions…

Enjoy!

With my love and best wishes

  1. That is a great NL week.
The Fine one is particularly good.
It’s a word I don’t like. Because people when they answer fine don’t mean it at all.
    So many connotations too.

  2. I agree with your comments. When people say fine they generally dont mean it because it’s an automatic answer and deals with the question at hand. Another interpretation is Feeling Inwardly Negative Everyday! Have a fine day :o)

  3. F.E.A.R = False Evidence Appearing Real
This really affects people and for some it takes over and stops them from enjoying life and experiencing the success and fulfillment they deserve.
Experience your whole life not just the bits Fear lets you!
Like David says say thank you to that little voice and I say fight back!!
I really recommend this book (Apologies to David it’s not by you lol)…
Feel the Fear and do it Anyway!

  4. For success, first you have to have fear, fear of failure.
Those who have never felt fear have never succeeded in life.

  5. Actually, that’s true. My wife came home and said that was a great film the other day and yet other reviews of it had not been complimentary.
I came home the other night after watching Sky TV in the pub and said ‘that was a great goal’.
In my case I was right and although it was an opinion, it was also fact.
Because Gareth Bale is scoring nothing other than ‘Great’ goals at the moment. Fact.
