It was referring to social media interactions, and of course it also applied to every conversation, every day, with everyone.

And I have rarely heard it expressed, so succinctly.
So simple to say, so very hard to do:

To notice, not judge
To respond after reflection, not react immediately.

And an extreme example from Mission Impossible 3:

‘You hung me out of a plane. You can tell a lot about a person’s character by how they treat people that they don’t have to treat well.’ 

Indeed!
