Fact or Fiction?

I thoroughly enjoyed the IT Leadership Toolkit Workshop in Newcastle, which we held this week.

There are always new ideas out there and different slants on old ones. I advocate open forums for teams and Dan Simms, Addleshaw Goddard, attending the workshop, shared with us all a brilliant way to get rumours and issues out in the open.

At Dan’s monthly IT meeting his managers bring up all the questions, concerns and rumours raised by their staff. These issues are not attributed to anyone they are put forward anonymously by the manager on behalf of his/her team.

Every point is addressed and appropriately labelled as ‘fact’ or ‘fiction’.

The same things can crop up time and again such as outsourcing or restructuring, they are all taken seriously and addressed each time they are raised. Some things are funny, outrageous even, but always afforded a valid response.

I think it’s a great idea.
