Leadership from a different perspective – Clare Andrews
Clare (15) asked me this question at a school:
What are the different ways we can discover who we really are,
and why we are really here?
As you can imagine, I was overjoyed to get such a simple question, having already been asked the meaning of “truth” and who I thought would win that latest series of Big Brother!
I believe our Identity and Purpose are the ultimate discoveries, for together they lead to total and absolute peace, which is what we all seek.
I promised Clare I would both print her name, and list my choice of five books that may guide her:
“The Celestine Prophecy,” by James Redfield
“The Power of Intention,” by Wayne Dyer
“The Greatest Miracle in the World,” by Og Mandino
“Excuse Me, Your Life is Waiting,” by Lynn Grabhorn
“The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle
My own advice would be to meditate, and to ask yourself a simple question. Find a special, private and personal place and simply ask yourself the question – “Who am I, and why am I here?”
I promise this – your “answer” will come – it may be straight away, or it may take a little longer – keep your eyes and ears open and life will show you the signs and signals. And it will continue to do so, until we take notice, or leave this earth, whichever comes first.
I believe we already know the answer to the question, and it is less about “discovering” and more about “remembering.”
And, finally, please make me a promise, if and when this works for you, please help another person to do the same.
Thank you Clare, I wish you love on your journey through this wonderful life. At 15 you have your whole life in front of you, as do all of us, whatever age we are.
With hope and peace to you all
David
