Please – Only Benchmark Against…

…yourself.

Seriously. Stop peeking over the fence.

That “successful” person, business, or organisation you’re benchmarking against? You’ve no idea what’s really going on.

Smoke. Mirrors. So often the wrong conclusion.

Benchmarking sounds clever. It isn’t. It’s lazy thinking dressed up as strategy.

Because the only meaningful question is this: what did you say you wanted— and how are you doing against that?

Your dreams. Your outcomes and most of all your progress.

Of course, when someone you know has achieved an outcome you really want to achieve go ask them how they did it – they will love to tell you – and do what they did. That’s not ‘benchmarking’, that’s copying, or in the words of Neuro Linguistic Programming – Modelling!

To benchmark is to compare with little real evidence.

So, be you and go fulfil that promise of your first few seconds.
