Please Stop Telling Me Off!

Every day, across almost every media site, the message is the same – I am doing so many things wrong:

‘The Way You Have Been Working Out At The Gym Is All Wrong!’ (Daily Mail)

‘I am an expert in nutrition and you have been eating food the wrong way’ (Express)

‘I am an air hostess and I know more than you about how to sleep on a plane’ (Several sites)

Look, I get how these headlines work – combining advice, drama and something unfinished, however that doesn’t stop this feeling of being told off for being so stupid!

Well, I am not an expert at anything, however I know this:

As long as the way you do something works, then that’s just fine.

Besides, how do they know how you and I run on the treadmill, consume food and travel?

With my love and best wishes to you all

  1. We are constantly hit by you’re doing it wrong. While you advise “as long as the way you do something works, then that’s just fine”, that’s true. I would embellish with, let the individual’s negativity wash over and look at what they said, there may be something you can learn from. Then accept the learning. One way to become a better you.

There are opportunities to learn even when someone is telling you what to do, that doesn’t mean they’re right, ignore their imposed views and look at what is being said objectively.

You can even deflect the negativity by asking a question relating to what’s being said.
