There Is No Spoon

There Is No Spoon

Naked Leader Week 1182 – Monday 6 July 2026

Time to Read: 59 Seconds

“There is no spoon.”

One of the most famous lines from The Matrix.

Most people think it’s about bending metal – It isn’t.
It’s about bending reality.

Think about it…
Two people lose their jobs.
One says, “My life is over.”
The other says, “This is the opportunity I’ve been waiting for.”
Who is right?

Both of them.
Because neither is reacting to reality.
They’re reacting to the reality they have created inside their own minds.

When you were a child did your parents ever say you lived in a world of your own?
They were right – not realising of course that so were they!
We don’t live in the world.
We live in our version of the world.

Your beliefs become your filters.
Your filters become your thoughts.
Your thoughts become your choices.
Your choices become your life.

Here’s the wonderful news…
If you’ve invented one reality, you can invent another.
A reality filled with possibility instead of fear.
Curiosity instead of certainty.
Hope instead of limitation.

So today, question everything you believe to be true.
Especially the things you’ve believed for years.
Because perhaps the biggest illusion isn’t the spoon…
It’s the person you think you are.
And if that’s true…

Imagine who you could become.

Or even more powerfully, imagine how amazing you already are

With my love and best wishes to you

One Response to There Is No Spoon

  1. Here’s a story for you David. My husband was diagnosed with a fatal tumour in 1999. He had several surgeries which extended his life. In 2003, he needed another surgery and asked his then employer for a leave of absence. The employer fired him (which you can do in the UK if you employ fewer than 20 people). He was furious and raged all the time about the unfairness of it. I told him, first we have to go to the USA for this surgery and get you better. Then, the Universe has given you the gift of starting your own business and doing it better than the top names he had worked for (Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse First Boston, Merrill Lynch, etc. He then raged at me, “You have no idea how hard it is to get a license!!! People hire consultants, spend tens of thousands of dollars and it still takes forever…” To which I replied, “My husband is the world’s greatest form-filler-outer. I have NO doubt you can get a license.” He filled out the forms just to prove me wrong. Six weeks later he had a license. Six weeks after that, they were profitable. He sold bonds for another 8 years, indeed, he sold bonds from his home hospital bed right up until the month before he died. The company now employs over 100 people and has 3 offices.
