Use This Technique To Flip Someone’s Brain

Naked Leader Week 1021 – 1 May 2023

If you are helping someone who says they ‘lack confidence’ ask them this question:

‘OK – How confident do you feel right now?

1 being not confident at all

10 being super confident’

They will give you a number – the most frequent responses we get in Naked Leader are ‘4’ or ‘5’

Then say:

“OK – thank you – may I ask you a question?”

They will say yes

“Why didn’t you give me a lower number?”

This question is genius – as the person you are with fully expects you to ask what most people would ask – “Why didn’t you give me a higher number?” – a question that opens up a discussion about why they lack confidence.

Whereas the question “Why didn’t you give me a lower number?” opens up a discussion about why they do indeed have some confidence”

All with a switch of just one word.

Just last week someone I am coaching gave me a “3” – I asked why they hadn’t given me a lower number – they looked at me, puzzled – because it is unexpected – and replied “Well, I know deep down I can do things, and there are some days when I feel very confident and…”

It’s a powerful, healing and helpful question

And the results are amazing
